Xinglong Elementary was renamed under Miaoli County administration in October 1950 and today operates as an "experimental school" (實驗學校) with an alternative, innovative curriculum model. The school has built a reputation well beyond its size — its team won the 25th Miaoli County Mayor's Cup national 5-a-side football championship, and it runs an active bilingual arts program that has drawn international recognition.
興隆國小於民國39年(1950年)10月苗栗縣政府成立後更名,如今以「實驗學校」模式運作,採用另類創新的課程規劃。學校雖規模不大,卻聲名遠播——校隊曾榮獲第25屆苗栗縣縣長盃全國五人制足球錦標賽冠軍,並推動積極的雙語藝術教育課程,屢獲國際肯定。
