A school rooted in Siraya heritage.
Yanping Elementary opened on April 10, 1921 as a branch teaching site of Jiali Public School, first holding classes at Yingyuan Temple (應元宮) before moving to its present site in 1923. A separate 1921 branch at Fanzailiao became independent in 1926 as Fanzailiao Public School, which is also identified with today's Yanping Elementary; the school took its current name in 2010. It celebrated its 100th anniversary with a torch relay explicitly framed around "the homeland of Alizu" (阿立祖故鄉) — the Siraya Pingpu indigenous ancestor-spirit — tying the school directly to the area's indigenous heritage.

Rooted in Siraya heritage.
Yanping Elementary is explicitly branded around Alizu and Siraya Pingpu indigenous heritage — Fanzailiao ("aboriginal village"), the old place name of part of its catchment, is a direct trace of Jiali's pre-Han Siraya settlement. This sits alongside the wider district's identity as the home of Jinluan Temple (金唐殿) and its Wangye "King Boat Festival" tradition, giving Jiali a layered local culture spanning indigenous and Han folk-religion heritage alike. See the Tainan county page for more on the region.
