Xishi Elementary began in August 1955 as "Dawan Elementary Xishi Branch School" (大灣國民學校西勢分校), becoming independent in August 1958. It was renamed "Xishi Elementary School" in 1968 with the nine-year-education reform. The school's vision statement is built around "LOVE, LIVE, LEARN," and it runs a locally-flavored food-education program that includes a pancake-making (煎餅) cultural event. Students also receive coding and design instruction via Scratch, Canva, and Code.org, alongside disaster-prevention and campus-safety mapping education.
西勢國小創立於1955年8月，初為「大灣國民學校西勢分校」，1958年8月獨立設校，1968年隨九年國教改制更名為「西勢國小」。學校願景以「LOVE, LIVE, LEARN」為核心，並推動具地方風味的食農教育，包含煎餅文化活動。學生也透過Scratch、Canva、Code.org等工具學習程式設計與美感教育，並學習防災與校園安全地圖繪製課程。

Like several other Yongkang elementary schools, Xishi began life as a satellite of Dawan Elementary, reflecting how a handful of early 20th-century "mother schools" repeatedly split off new branch schools as Yongkang's population grew village by village.
