Built to relieve an overcrowded neighbor school.

Ren-ai Elementary was approved for establishment in August 1956 as "Ren-ai National School," with founding principal Chen Xiquan taking office that September and a founding ceremony held on December 23, 1956. The school's first graduating class went out in 1959, and it was renamed Ren-ai Elementary School in 1968. It was established specifically to absorb overflow enrollment from the overcrowded Jiali Elementary School, taking over its second-, third-, and fourth-grade classes at founding.

⛩️

Ren-ai Elementary's founding illustrates Jiali town's post-war population boom as the district's traditional commercial center expanded. The wider district remains centered on Jinluan Temple (金唐殿), one of the Tainan coastal plain's key Wangye "King Boat Festival" temples, and on the Siraya Pingpu ancestor-spirit (阿立祖) worship traditions found in the surrounding hamlets. See the Tainan county page for more on the region.
