A century-old school tracing the settlement of the Nanhua basin.
Nanhua Elementary School was founded on April 1, 1909, as “Tapani Public School Nanzhuang Branch.” It became independent as “Nanzhuang Public School” in 1914, was renamed “Inner Xinhua Public School” the same year, then “Nanhua Public School” in 1921 — at which point it also established the “Beiliao Branch School” that later became today's Beiliao Elementary School. The school became “Nanhua National School” in 1941, relocated to its present site in 1946 after World War II, and was renamed “Nanhua Elementary School” in 1968. Classified as a special remote (極偏) school with over a century of history, it now enrolls about 78 students across 6 classes on a campus covering roughly 14,751 square meters, and established an attached self-governing kindergarten in 1973.
