More than a century of schooling that began in a temple.
Jiaxing Elementary was established on March 10, 1916 as a branch of Madou Public School, with classes beginning a month later inside Yingding Jiafu Temple It became an independent school, Jiali-xing Public School, in 1918, and went through multiple renamings in 1941, 1946, 1947, and 1953 before becoming Tainan County Jiali Town Jiaxing Elementary School in 1968 and adopting its current name in 2010. Over a century of continuous operation, the school has tracked Taiwan's political history through more than half a dozen official name changes.

🌾 A Namesake for the District
The school's name lends itself to the surrounding Jiaxing area, which later gained its own junior high school, Jiaxing Junior High, in 1979.
Jiali, market town of the coastal plain.
Jiaxing Elementary's temple-hall origin at Jiafu Temple mirrors the founding of Jiali Elementary School itself at Jinluan Temple (金唐殿), reflecting how local temples served as the area's first schoolhouses. Jinluan Temple remains one of the Tainan coastal plain's key Wangye "King Boat Festival" sites and a center of Siraya Pingpu ancestor-spirit (阿立祖) worship in the surrounding hamlets. See the Tainan county page for more on the region.
