The youngest school in Madou, named for an old temple.

Ji'an Elementary School was founded in 1963 as a branch of Anye Elementary School and became independent in 1969, making it the youngest of Madou District's eight elementary schools. Its name derives from the nearby Ji'an Temple (紀安宮), which enshrines a deity known as "Ling Xiang Fo Gong" (靈相佛公), reputedly brought to the area by settlers of the Xie (謝) clan who reclaimed this land around 1700 during the Kangxi era. The school completed a rebuild of its rear classroom block in January 2020. As of 2026, Ji'an is also hosting the temporarily displaced Anye Elementary School on its campus while Anye's own buildings are being rebuilt.

⛩️

The school's very name is borrowed from a 300-year-old temple founded by the Xie-clan settlers who first reclaimed this stretch of the Daofeng Inland Sea floodplain — one of the most direct temple-to-school naming links anywhere in this part of Tainan. See the Tainan county page for more on the region.
