Dongguang Elementary School

Dongguang Elementary School was founded in August 1956 as a branch campus of Shengli Elementary School, the district's original "mother school." It became an independent institution in 1959, renamed "Tainan City East District Dongguang National School," and was renamed Dongguang Elementary School in August 1968 under the nine-year compulsory education reform. The school is located near the former Tainan Textile factory site, reflecting the district's mid-century light-industrial development alongside its residential growth.

東光國小創校於1956年（民國45年）8月，為勝利國小（東區的「母校」）分校。1959年（民國48年）獨立設校，定名為「臺南市東區東光國民學校」，1968年（民國57年）8月因應九年國民義務教育改制為「東光國民小學」。學校鄰近原臺南紡織廠舊址，見證了東區在住宅發展之外，戰後中期輕工業發展的一面。
