Tzu Chi University

Tzu Chi University was founded in October 1994 as Tzu Chi College of Medicine by Dharma Master Cheng Yen, specifically to address the chronic shortage of doctors and nurses willing to serve in underserved eastern Taiwan. It was renamed Tzu Chi University in 2000, and in August 2024 absorbed Tzu Chi University of Science and Technology. The university sits beside Tzu Chi Hospital in Hualien City, forming a tightly integrated medical education and healthcare hub. It is internationally recognized for its "Silent Mentor" program — a unique dry-preservation technique that allows body donors to be treated with dignity as teachers rather than mere cadavers, drawing medical trainees from 57 countries to study under its methods. The university also offers three fully English-taught departments: English Language and Literature, International Service Industry Management, and Digital Media and Technology.

慈濟大學創立於1994年10月，初名「慈濟醫學院」，由證嚴法師創辦，目的正是解決東台灣長期缺乏願意服務的醫師與護理人力的問題。學校於民國89年（2000年）更名為慈濟大學，並於2024年8月併入慈濟科技大學。校區緊鄰花蓮市的慈濟醫院，形成緊密結合的醫學教育與醫療服務樞紐。慈濟大學以「無語良師」（大體老師）計畫享譽國際——這項獨特的乾式防腐技術讓大體捐贈者能以「老師」而非單純大體的身分受到尊重對待，吸引全球57個國家的醫學生前來學習。學校亦開設三個全英語授課系所：英美語文學系、國際企業管理學系，以及數位媒體設計學系。
