From a Japanese-era agricultural school to a national technical campus.
Taoyuan Nonggong traces its roots to 1938, when it was founded under Japanese rule as the "Shinchiku Prefectural Taoyuan Agricultural School." It became a national (國立) institution in 2000, and in 2016 was brought under the wing of National Taipei University of Technology, giving it its current name. The campus is unusually large, spanning roughly 251,588 square meters and dotted with historic sculptures and monuments, and as of 2017 the school enrolled about 2,772 students across 83 classes. It offers five major vocational tracks — agriculture, mechanical, chemical, electrical, and service/commerce — and has been led by principal Yang Qing-shan since August 2024.

A living record of Taoyuan's farming past.
Originally established as a Japanese-era agricultural school, Taoyuan Nonggong's very founding is a reminder that today's built-up Taoyuan District — now the administrative and commercial core of Taoyuan City — was once the farming heartland its students trained to work. See the Taoyuan county page for more on the region.
