Taoyuan Senior High traces back to 1941, when it opened under Japanese rule as the "Shinchiku Prefectural Taoyuan Home Economics Girls' School." It went through several name and status changes over the decades — becoming Taoyuan Junior Middle School in 1946, Provincial Taoyuan Middle School in 1954, and, after losing its junior-high division, Provincial Taoyuan Senior High School in 1970. It became a national school in 2000 and took its current municipal name after Taoyuan's 2018 reorganization into a special municipality. As of 2018 the school enrolled about 2,584 students in 66 classes with 157 full-time teachers, and it maintains a sister-school partnership with Indong High School in Gumi, South Korea. Its motto — 誠、愛、勤、樸 (Integrity, Love, Diligence, Simplicity) — has guided generations of students.
桃園高中前身可追溯至1941年日治時期創立的「新竹州立桃園家政女學校」。歷經多次更名與體制轉變：1946年改為桃園初級中學、1954年改為省立桃園中學，1970年因裁撤初中部改制為省立桃園高級中學。民國89年（2000年）改為國立，2018年桃園升格為直轄市後改為現名。2018年資料顯示全校約2,584名學生、66個班級（每年級22班）、157位專任教師，並與韓國龜尾市仁東高等學校締結姊妹校。校訓「誠、愛、勤、樸」引領著一代代學子。
