Rebuilding cultural confidence, one classroom at a time.

Taoyuan Elementary traces its roots to a branch education institute established in 1938 under Japanese colonial rule, becoming an independent school in 1947. In August 2017, the school converted to the KIST (誠致教育基金會, Chengzhi Education Foundation) public-private-partnership experimental school model, a governance structure that lets a nonprofit foundation run curriculum and school culture within the public system. Since then, Taoyuan has become known as the "cradle of Bunun culture" — a nickname reflecting its focused mission of rebuilding Indigenous students' cultural confidence and identity alongside academic achievement.
