A national school with a maritime mission.
Tainan Marine Vocational School traces its roots to August 1946, when it opened in Kaohsiung as a branch of the Keelung Fishery Vocational School, using a former Japanese shipyard as a practice shipbuilding facility. It became an independent school in 1960 under the name "Taiwan Provincial Tainan Senior Fishery Vocational School" and moved to Tainan, taking its current national title in 2000 after Taiwan's provincial-government reorganization. Today the school offers technical tracks in aquaculture, food processing, marine navigation and engine operations, electronics, and digital commerce, and launched an AI Robot Excellence Program in 2019.

Anping's working harbor, in the classroom.
Sitting a few minutes from Anping Harbor, this national maritime and fishery school directly continues Anping's centuries-old identity as Taiwan's oldest trading port and fishing community. Its students train in the same waters the Dutch East India Company once sailed into to build Fort Zeelandia — a living link between Anping's colonial-era port history and its present-day fishing and aquaculture industry. See the Tainan county page for more on the region.
