From a 50-student branch to a green campus.
Taikang Elementary began on September 1, 1954, as "Liuying National School's Taikang Branch," a single-class school of just 50 students sited near the Taikang village communal shrine. It grew into a two-class branch the following year, became an independent school in 1959 as "Tainan County Liuying Township Taikang National School," and took its current elementary designation in 1968 when nine-year compulsory education was implemented nationwide. Today the school operates an attached kindergarten and has built a low-carbon, sustainability-themed school-based curriculum reflecting its rural setting.
太康國小創立於民國43年（1954年）9月1日，最初名為「柳營國民學校太康分班」，設於太康村公廟附近，僅一班50名學生。隔年（民國44年）升格為兩班分校，民國48年（1959年）獨立設校，定名為「臺南縣柳營鄉太康國民學校」，民國57年（1968年）九年國民義務教育實施後改為現名。學校現設有附設幼兒園，並發展出結合鄉村地景的低碳永續校本課程。
