A mother school at the park gateway.
Xiangbi Elementary was founded in 1917 during the Japanese colonial era and historically served as the "mother school" for the region — its branches later grew into today's independent Meiyuan and Shilin Elementary Schools. Sitting at roughly 650 meters elevation at the entrance to Xueba National Park's Xuejian recreation area, the school was formally transformed in 2020 into an Atayal Beishi-qun (北勢群) multilingual experimental education school, teaching tribal weaving, singing, and Gaga cultural traditions alongside its standard curriculum.
