A Japanese-era campus straddling two towns.

Songmei Elementary was established on April 7, 1913, as the 'Nanshizhu branch' of Puzi Public School, petitioned into being by regional leaders including the district chiefs of both Budai and Puzi. It went through several post-war renamings — Tainan County Yizhu Township 2nd National School in 1946, Songmei National School later that year, transfer to Chiayi County in 1950, reassignment to Puzi Township in 1962, and Songmei Elementary School in 1968. The campus includes a Japanese-era principal's residence completed in 1915, registered as a Chiayi County historic building in 2004. The school recently completed a new PU running track, celebrated its 108th founding anniversary under the motto '松梅2.0~喜迎100' (marking its approach to a full century under its current identity), and runs a dedicated indigenous/native-language education website alongside strong environmental and lunch education programs.
