Over a century in Siji Village.
Siji Elementary opened in 1917 under Japanese rule as a Japanese-language training institute for Atayal children, part of the colonial government's education program in Taiwan's mountain regions. The school was renamed several times over the following decades before settling on "Sikilun Elementary School" in 1968. In 2005, it was designated an Indigenous focus school, and it maintains a branch campus, Yingshi, reaching further into the mountains. The school's dance team placed third county-wide in a recent academic year, a point of pride for this small mountain community.
