Shuren Elementary School

Shuren Elementary began on March 15, 1912 as "Wushulin Ordinary Elementary School," established by the Toyo Sugar Manufacturing Company inside its Wushulin sugar refinery to educate employees' children. Township administration took over the school in 1921, and it passed through several names — "Taiwan Sugar No. 4 Elementary School" (1947), "Wushulin Substitute National School" (1949), "Shuren Substitute National School" (1952) — before becoming a fully public school, "Shuren Elementary School," in 1968. The school celebrated its 100th-anniversary school celebration with the Tainan mayor in attendance, marking a century of continuous operation from its sugar-factory-school origins.

樹人國小前身為明治45年（1912年）3月15日由東洋製糖株式會社於烏樹林糖廠內設立的「烏樹林尋常小學校」，供員工子弟就讀。民國10年（1921年）移交後壁鄉管理，其後歷經「台糖第四國民學校」（1947年）、「烏樹林代用國民學校」（1949年）、「樹人代用國民學校」（1952年）等名稱，至民國57年（1968年）改為完全公立的「樹人國民小學」。該校曾舉辦百年校慶，臺南市長亦到場祝賀，見證這所源自糖廠的學校延續百年不輟。
