Shumei Elementary traces its history back to February 1921, though it went through multiple mergers and renamings over the following decades before taking its current name in 1970, in honor of General Meng Shu-mei. The school celebrated its 100th anniversary in November 2021 with festivities including a 1,000-kilometer round-Taiwan cycling event and tributes to notable alumni. A roughly NT$65 million campus renovation recently added what is described as Taiwan's longest campus roller slide.
述美國小的校史可追溯至民國10年（1921年）2月，其後歷經多次合併與更名，於民國59年（1970年）以孟述美將軍之名定為現名。學校於2021年11月舉辦建校百年校慶，活動包括一場環台千公里騎行以及表揚傑出校友。近年一項耗資約新台幣6,500萬元的校園整建工程，打造了號稱全台最長的校園溜滑梯。
