Shuishang Junior High School

Shuishang Junior High School traces its origins to December 7, 1959, when the Chiayi County Council approved its establishment. The Taiwan Provincial Government approved preparatory formation in July 1960, and the school initially operated as the "Dongshi Junior High Shuishang Branch," borrowing old classrooms from Shuishang Elementary School and enrolling four classes of 240 students. Construction broke ground on December 4, 1960, with formal independent establishment recorded as of August 1, 1960. By 1967, the campus included a multi-building complex with an auditorium, science hall, and library. Today the school runs a wind band program known as the "水中管樂班," a basketball team, a career exploration center, and a continuing/supplementary education division.

水上國中的歷史可追溯至民國48年（1959年）12月7日，嘉義縣議會通過設校案。台灣省政府於民國49年（1960年）7月核准籌設，初期以「東石中學水上分部」名義運作，借用水上國小舊教室，招收4班240名學生。同年12月4日校舍動工，正式獨立設校日期記載為民國49年（1960年）8月1日。至民國56年（1967年），校舍已擴建為包含禮堂、科學館與圖書館的多棟建築群。現今學校設有「水中管樂班」管樂隊、籃球隊、職業試探中心，以及進修部。
