Built by the community, for nearly a century.
Junkeng Elementary School traces its roots to 1932, when a village elder began private Chinese-character instruction in a workshop for the children of Shang-an Village. The school became independent on April 1, 1935. After being damaged by a typhoon in 1941, it relocated and was rebuilt with volunteer community labor. Over 3,000 students have graduated since its founding — a century-long history of grassroots, community-built education that echoes the self-reliant logging-town spirit of the wider Shuili area.
