Twin lakes, twin villages, one small school.

Shuanghu Elementary began in August 1952 as Qimei Elementary's "West Lake Branch," was reorganized as the "East-West Lake Branch School" in 1955, and became a fully independent school in August 1959, taking its current name in 1968. Its name, "Shuanghu" ("Twin Lakes"), reflects its role serving both Donghu (East Lake) and Xihu (West Lake) villages. Enrollment peaked in 1982 at 55 students and has declined steadily since, a pattern common to many of Penghu's small outer-island schools — but the school has continued on, holding its 62nd graduation ceremony in recent years.
