Shilei Elementary School

Shilei Elementary began in 1956 as a branch class of Yufeng National School, was upgraded to a branch school in 1961, and became fully independent in 1965, taking its present name in 1968. Its campus is only 2,160 square meters — reportedly the smallest school campus in all of Taiwan. The school serves the Atayal Quri tribal settlement, situated at over 800 meters elevation deep in Jianshi Township's mountains. It celebrated its 60th anniversary with the Hsinchu County magistrate in attendance, under the theme "Atayal torch of 60 years," a tribute to six decades of carrying forward Atayal identity in one of the county's smallest schools.

石磊國小前身為1956年設立的「玉峰國小石磊分班」，1961年升格為分校，1965年正式獨立設校，1968年更為現名。校地面積僅2,160平方公尺，傳為全台灣校地面積最小的學校。學校服務海拔800公尺以上、深居尖石鄉山區的泰雅族奎輝部落。60週年校慶時，新竹縣長親臨與會，以「泰雅火炬一甲子」為主題，向這所小校六十年來承載泰雅族認同的努力致敬。
