Shijia Junior High School

Shijia Junior High traces its roots to 1952, when it opened as a branch school; it became independent in 1954 and took its current name in 1968. The school has since been designated a "pioneer bilingual-education school" by the city. Its name honors "戲獅甲" (Xi-shi-jia), a Qing-dynasty coastal hamlet where villagers performed lion-dance and martial-arts drills modeled on the Songjiang Battle Array to train for defense against pirate raids.

獅甲國中前身可溯至民國41年（1952年）秋成立的分校，民國43年（1954年）獨立設校，民國57年（1968年）更為現名，並獲市府指定為雙語教育先驅學校。校名源自清代海濱聚落「戲獅甲」——當地居民曾模仿宋江陣操演舞獅武術，藉此訓練防禦海盜入侵的能力。
