The mother school of Sezi Island.
Sezi Elementary School was established in 1902 as a branch of Bazhilan Public School, "八芝蘭公學校社仔分校," following a petition by local ward chief Chen Huanlan. It became an independent school, "Sezi Public School," in 1913, was renamed "Sezi National School" in 1942, and took its current name in 1974. One of the oldest schools in Shilin, with roots going back over 120 years, the school celebrated its 120th anniversary with then-Mayor Ko Wen-je in attendance. At its peak the school had over 5,000 students; two entirely new schools — Bailing Elementary (1970) and Hulu Elementary (1975) — were later split off to relieve overcrowding.
