From a branch school to an independent seaside campus.
Shanshui Elementary began in August 1958 as Wude Elementary's Suogang branch school, before becoming fully independent as Shanshui National Elementary in 1967. It took its current Chinese name in 1968, and was updated again in 1981 to reflect Magong Township's promotion to city status. Today the school serves the children of Shanshui Village, a coastal community on Penghu's south shore.
