Shanshang Elementary School

Shanshang Elementary School dates to 1907, when it began as a branch of Damuxiang (大目降) Public School at Shanzhiding; it became independent as “Shanzhiding Public School” in 1917 and was renamed “Shanshang National School” in 1941. As the only elementary school in Shanshang District, it carries over 117 years of continuous history. The school recently underwent a full campus demolition-and-rebuild under the project name “Old Waterworks, New Shanshang” (原水道，新山上), with new school buildings completed in 2022 — a name that explicitly references the district's neighboring waterworks heritage site.

山上國小創立於明治40年（1907年），前身為大目降公學校山仔頂分校，大正6年（1917年）獨立設校為「山仔頂公學校」，昭和16年（1941年）改名「山上國民學校」。作為山上區唯一的國小，校史已逾117年。學校近年進行全面拆除重建工程，計畫名稱直接取名「原水道，新山上」，新校舍已於2022年完工啟用——校名典故正是呼應鄰近的水道文化資產。
