Shanqi Elementary School

Shanqi Elementary School began in 1946 as a branch campus of Hsinhu Elementary School in neighboring Hukou Township. It first held classes in a local meeting hall, then briefly used a state hospital building, before becoming an independent school in 1950. As the surrounding area grew crowded, the school transferred roughly 800 students to the newly opened Songlin Elementary School around 2004–2005 to ease overcrowding. In 2008, Shanqi was formally redesignated from Hukou to Xinfeng Township, reflecting the fluid administrative boundary history between the two communities.

山崎國小創立於民國35年（1946年），最初為鄰近湖口鄉新湖國小的分班。學校最早借用地方集會所上課，後短暫使用省立醫院建物，於民國39年（1950年）正式獨立設校。隨著周邊地區學生人數增加，學校於民國93至94年間（2004至2005年）將約800名學生轉移至新開辦的松林國小，以紓解過度擁擠的問題。民國97年（2008年），山崎國小的行政區劃由湖口鄉正式改隸新豐鄉，反映出兩鄉之間流動的行政邊界歷史。
