Shangjiao Junior High began in 1976 as a branch of Nankan Junior High and became an independent school in 1979. Renamed to its current name in 2014, it serves the Shangjiao, Waiseh, and Haihu village catchment area with a relatively small student body of around 540 students across three grades. Principal Wang Jie has led the school since August 2024.
山腳國中於民國65年（1976年）以南崁國中分校形式創立，民國68年（1979年）獨立設校，民國103年（2014年）更名為現名。學區涵蓋山腳、外社、海湖等村里，學生約540人（民國105年統計）。現任校長王婕自民國113年（2024年）8月上任。

Shangjiao Junior High sits in the hilly Shangjiao (山腳, literally "foot of the mountain") area on the edge of the Linkou Tableland. Compared to the flat, fast-urbanizing Nankan core near Taoyuan International Airport, this part of Luzhu retains a more rural, tea- and orchard-farming character — a reminder that the district's inland hills tell a different story than its airport-adjacent lowlands.
