A small school in Zhudong's smallest village.
Shangping Elementary takes its name from Shangping Village, Zhudong Township's smallest settlement with just under 300 residents. Details specific to the school's own founding date and current facilities are difficult to confirm independently, and available research could not verify whether Shangping Elementary currently operates as a fully independent institution or is closely tied to nearby Ruifeng Elementary School, which is also physically located within Shangping Village. What is well documented is the village itself: a historic hub on the region's logging-railway network, and the gateway point where Zhudong's lowlands give way to the mountains of Wufeng Township.
Shangping, a logging-railway crossroads.
Shangping Village was historically the seat of Shangping Old Street and the terminus of a narrow-gauge logging railway built in 1924, which was later extended into Wufeng Township in 1928. This transport history ties the village directly into Zhudong's broader identity as a logging town, and situates it at the literal transition point between Zhudong's commercial lowlands and the mountain communities of Wufeng, reached today via County Road 122.
