Shanding Elementary was founded on August 1, 1965, established to coincide with the military's 'Dingxing Plan' (鼎興計畫), a housing and relocation program. A new 14-classroom building went up for bid in May 1966, students moved into the new campus that August, and full-day classes began by December 1966. The school was designated a 'dental-hygiene demonstration school' in 1971, and celebrated its 50th anniversary with a visit from the Taoyuan mayor.
山頂國小創校於1965年8月1日，因應軍方「鼎興計畫」眷舍安置而設立。1966年5月新建14間教室校舍發包，同年8月師生遷入新校舍，12月起全面實施全天上課。1971年獲指定為「牙齒衛生示範學校」，並曾於建校50週年時獲桃園市長蒞校祝賀。
