Sanyi Senior High School was founded in 1962 as a junior high school and transformed into a complete, six-year senior high school in 2013. The school is located in Sanyi Township, internationally famous for its woodcarving (木雕) craftsmanship — the township is home to the Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum and a woodcarving tradition stretching back over a century.
三義高中創立於民國51年（1962年），原為國中，2013年升格為完全中學（含高中部）。學校座落於以木雕工藝聞名國際的三義鄉——鄉內設有三義木雕博物館，木雕傳統已延續超過一世紀。
