Sanxian Elementary opened in 1949 as a branch school before becoming independent. Its district covers four coastal Amis Indigenous communities, including Pisirian, a village known for its distinctive "Beach Cat" drum circle and cat-themed folk art. In 1985 the school set up a shell-specimen exhibition room that later grew into a Taitung County Natural History Education Hall, and it added a preschool class in 2005.
三仙國小創立於民國38年（1949年），最初以分校形式設立，後獨立設校。學區涵蓋四個阿美族沿海部落，其中包括以「比西里岸」漂流木貓咪意象與貓群鼓陣聞名的比西里岸部落。學校於民國74年（1985年）設立貝殼標本展示室，後擴展為「臺東縣自然史教育館」，並於民國94年（2005年）增設幼兒園班。
