A small school's big reinvention.

Sanhe Elementary sits on the coastal plain of Taimali Township, an area popularly known as "Taiwan's first place to see the sunrise." Facing years of declining enrollment common to small rural schools, Sanhe reinvented itself as a STEAM-style experimental education campus, weaving hands-on science, technology, and design projects into its curriculum. The approach has paid off: enrollment grew from just over 30 students to 54 over four years, reversing a long decline, and in 2021 the school won the Ministry of Education's Digital Learning Excellence Award for a student project studying plastics in the home.
