From a private school to a village school with award-winning architecture.
Sangu Elementary traces its roots to a private school (書房) founded in 1923 by local villager Huang Shifa. It became a branch of Zhuqiao National School in 1946, was formally established as its own school, "三股國民學校," in 1950, and took its present name, "三股國民小學," in 1968. Today it is a small rural school with about 103 students. Its newly rebuilt north classroom wing of 12 classrooms deliberately echoes the local fishing village's traditional "桶更寮" (a stilt-and-thatch fisherman's watch-hut) in its architecture, using a white, green and brown color palette evoking the nearby salt mountain.

🏫 A Small Village School
With roughly 103 students, Sangu Elementary remains a close-knit, small-scale school serving the farming and fishing families of Sangu village.
Built in the shadow of the salt mountain.
Sangu village sits amid Qigu District's historic salt fields and fish ponds, and the school's award-winning new building was purpose-designed to reflect this landscape — its architecture nods to the local fishing-hut vernacular, while its color palette evokes the white salt mountain that has long defined Qigu's economy.
