A tiny school anchoring a sparse coastal community.
Sanci Elementary began in 1956 as a branch of Wenshan Elementary School, splitting off as an independent school in 1963 under the name Sanci Elementary School, then renamed again in 1968 under national education-law standardization. It is a very small school — around six classes and roughly 112 students as of 2013 under its 12th principal, Huang San-he — and marked its 60th anniversary with a celebration attended by then-Mayor Huang Wei-che.

A small school on a sparse coast.
Sanci is one of the smallest schools in Beimen, a district whose sparse, aging coastal population is shaped by its salt-flat heritage. Its modest size reflects the demographic reality of a district that once thrived on the salt trade. See the Tainan county page for more on the region.
