Cultivating a "Paiwan soul" in every student.
Saijia Elementary began in 1950 as a branch campus of the Sandimen Demonstration Elementary School, becoming an independent school in 2002. In August 2019, it relaunched as the "Tailjaking Tribal Experimental Elementary School" — Tailjaking being the Paiwan-language transliteration of Saijia Village's old place name. As of the 2022–23 school year, the school had 6 classes, 43 students, 14 teachers, and 2 staff. Its curriculum centers on Paiwan songs, dance, crafts, farming, and festival culture, with the explicit aim of cultivating students with what the school calls "Paiwan souls."

🏫 A Small, Focused Campus
With just 43 students across 6 classes, Saijia Elementary operates as an intimate, community-centered school deeply integrated with Saijia Village life.
A curriculum built from tribal identity.
Saijia Elementary sits in the Paiwan mountains of Sandimen Township, an area known for its slate-house village culture. Unlike many schools that add cultural content around a standard curriculum, Tailjaking Tribal Experimental Elementary School builds its entire program from Paiwan oral history, craft traditions, and festival practice — reviving tribal identity as the foundation of learning rather than an addition to it.
