Formed from two education institutes.
Huzhu Elementary was formed in 1939 by merging two Japanese-era education institutes, the Meiyuan and Chuanzhongdao institutes. It became Ren'ai Township Huzhu National School in 1945 and took its current name, Huzhu Elementary, in 1968. As of 2018, about 98% of its roughly 56 students were Indigenous, predominantly Seediq, and the school is designated a key indigenous-education school.
互助國小於1939年（昭和14年）由「眉原」與「川中島」兩所教育所合併而成。1945年（民國34年）改稱仁愛鄉互助國校，1968年（民國57年）定名互助國小。截至2018年，全校約56名學生中約98%為原住民，以賽德克族為主，學校為重點原住民教育學校。
