Over a century of history, rebuilt for the future.
Hongyeh Elementary traces its roots to a 1909 Japanese-era training site, becoming an independent school in 1963 and adopting its current name in 1968. Classrooms were badly damaged in the 1999 921 earthquake, and the rebuilt campus reopened in 2001. In 2014, the school was designated an official indigenous-focus school, and it has since built a competitive judo program alongside digital and AI-literacy initiatives for its students.
