A school at the Atayal people's legendary birthplace.
Faxiang Elementary serves the Ruiyan (瑞岩) tribal area, a place regarded in Atayal oral tradition as the ancestral birthplace of the Atayal people. After the village and school suffered severe damage in the 1999 921 earthquake, the community relocated and the school reopened on a new campus in 2004. Today Faxiang runs a "Rainbow Faxiang" indigenous and ethnic-education curriculum built directly around Atayal ancestral culture, and also fields a competitive judo team.
