A school that reclaimed its own name.

Duda Elementary School traces its roots to 1915, when it was established during the Japanese colonial era as a training institute for indigenous children in the Toroko/Duda area near Wushe. The school was renamed Heping Elementary School in 1968, a name it carried for nearly five decades. It marked its 100th anniversary in 2015, and in 2017 the school reclaimed its Seediq traditional-territory name, "Duda" — becoming the first school in Nantou County to be renamed in honor of indigenous heritage, a name that speaks directly to the Seediq history of the Wushe and Ren'ai area.
