About · 學校簡介

A school rooted in a community's difficult history.

Chunyang Elementary began in March 1951 as a branch of Ren'ai National School, becoming an independent school in August 1960. The village it serves, Chunyang, was formed when Japanese colonial authorities forcibly relocated Sediq Toda families there in 1931–32, in the aftermath of the Wushe Incident. The school was designated a key indigenous-education school in 1999, and by 2018 it was recognized as especially remote.

A village born of forced relocation.

🏘️

Chunyang Village was formed when Japanese colonial authorities forcibly relocated Sediq Toda families there in 1931–32, following the Wushe Incident of 1930 — one of the most significant events of Indigenous resistance to Japanese rule in Taiwan's history. The school's very existence is tied to this history, and it continues today to serve the descendants of that displaced community. See the Nantou county page for more on the region.
