A school rooted in a community's difficult history.
Chunyang Elementary began in March 1951 as a branch of Ren'ai National School, becoming an independent school in August 1960. The village it serves, Chunyang, was formed when Japanese colonial authorities forcibly relocated Sediq Toda families there in 1931–32, in the aftermath of the Wushe Incident. The school was designated a key indigenous-education school in 1999, and by 2018 it was recognized as especially remote.

📖 A History Tied to Its Village's Origins

🎓 A Key Indigenous-Education School
1999年指定重點原住民教育學校
Designated a key indigenous-education school in 1999, Chunyang Elementary plays a central role in supporting Sediq Toda language, culture, and identity for its students.
🏔️ One of Ren'ai's Most Remote Schools
2018年列為特偏遠學校
By 2018, the school was recognized as especially remote, even by the standards of Ren'ai Township's already mountainous and dispersed communities.
A village born of forced relocation.
Chunyang Village was formed when Japanese colonial authorities forcibly relocated Sediq Toda families there in 1931–32, following the Wushe Incident of 1930 — one of the most significant events of Indigenous resistance to Japanese rule in Taiwan's history. The school's very existence is tied to this history, and it continues today to serve the descendants of that displaced community. See the Nantou county page for more on the region.
