Founded in the final year of Japanese rule.
Qishan Junior High was founded in 1944, in the final year of Japanese colonial rule, initially as a girls' school with just three classes; its first class graduated in March 1945. It became a municipal school on December 25, 2010, and today stands as one of the oldest junior high schools in northern Kaohsiung. The school sits in what was historically known as Hanshuliao (蕃薯藔), Qishan's former name as an inland river port and hub of the banana trade.
