Qishan Elementary was founded in 1898, during the Japanese colonial era, as Hanshuliao Public School (蕃薯藔公學校). Its historic campus buildings, constructed between 1916 and 1934, were designated a municipal heritage monument in 2000, and the school has been renamed multiple times through the colonial and postwar periods. It stands on Zhongzheng Road in Cishan District.
旗山國小創校於1898年(明治31年,日治時期),初名「蕃薯藔公學校」。校內1916至1934年間興建的歷史建築於2000年獲指定為市定古蹟,學校歷經日治與戰後多次更名,現址位於旗山區中正路。
