The parent school of Qidu District.
Qidu Elementary School opened in April 1933 as a branch of neighboring Wudu Elementary School, becoming an independent school in 1936 through the advocacy of four local clan families. Renamed several times after Taiwan's 1945 retrocession, it settled on its current name, Qidu Elementary School, in September 1968. Over the decades, two of its own branch campuses grew into independent schools in turn — Huaxing Elementary in 1962 and Shangren Elementary in 1965 — making Qidu Elementary the historic "parent school" of education across the district.

📆 Nearly a Century of History

Qidu, a rail and river junction feeding Keelung's port.
Qidu District grew up around a rail junction feeding Keelung's port, and Qidu Elementary anchors that history as the area's oldest school — a transport-and-logistics identity distinct from the coastal fishing culture found elsewhere in the city. See the Keelung county page for more on the region.
