Qiaoping Elementary School was founded in response to a severe flood that struck central-southern Taiwan in 1959, funded partly by donations from overseas Chinese communities authorized by President Chiang Kai-shek. The school was officially formed on June 24, 1960, with its first principal, Gao Hongyou, taking office on August 1. Due to overcrowding, it relocated to Chiayi's Zhuzhu redevelopment zone between 1982 and 1984, with the new campus opening on October 14, 1984.
僑平國小因應民國48年（1959年）中南部嚴重水災而設立，部分經費來自蔣中正總統核定運用的海外華僑捐款。學校於民國49年（1960年）6月24日正式成立，首任校長高鴻猷於同年8月1日到任。因應學生數過多，學校於71至73年間（1982–1984年）遷至嘉義市竹圍重劃區，新校舍於73年（1984年）10月14日啟用。
