The school is listed in Taiwan's Indigenous Peoples reference encyclopedia, reflecting a notable Indigenous-student community.
僑愛國小於1957年（民國46年）8月設立為「八德國校僑愛分校」，同年改隸為員樹林國民學校僑愛分校，1959年（民國48年）8月獨立設校，定名為僑愛國民學校。校地由地方仕紳於1957年10月捐贈，新校舍於1958年6月落成。學校亦收錄於臺灣原住民族百科全書，顯示校內有一定規模的原住民學生族群。
