From branch classroom to neighborhood school.
Taiping Elementary began in 1948 as a branch classroom of Shigang Elementary School, serving children in Puli's Hecheng community who would otherwise have faced a long walk to the main campus. It became an independent school in 1954 under the name Taiping National School, and was renamed Taiping Elementary in 1968 as part of Taiwan's nationwide school-naming reform. Today it continues to serve families in this corner of the Puli basin.
