Puli Junior High traces its roots to 1943, when it was founded as "街庄組合埔里家政女學校," a girls' home-economics school. It became Taichung County Puli Junior High in 1946, then Nantou County Puli Junior High in 1950. The school's buildings completely collapsed in the catastrophic 1999 921 earthquake; after rebuilding, it reopened on September 1, 2001. Today it serves about 792 students across a 5.2-hectare campus, and has developed a sports program (2003) and a math-science advanced class (2005).
埔里國中校史可溯及1943年創立的「街庄組合埔里家政女學校」，1946年改為台中縣立埔里初級中學，1950年改隸南投縣立埔里國民中學。校舍於1999年921大地震中全數倒塌，重建後於2001年9月1日復校開學。現有約792名學生，校地面積5.2公頃，並於2003年成立體育班、2005年成立數理資優班。
