The only school with a true sea view.
Baisha Elementary began in 1954 as a branch class of Liuqiu National School, was upgraded to a full branch school in 1955, became independent as "Baisha National School" in 1958, and took its current name in 1968. The school sits in Zhongfu Village, historically known as "Zhong'aozi" — a small bay that once served as a boat dock at the center of Baisha Beach. What sets it apart is its setting: Baisha is known as Xiaoliuqiu's only school with a true oceanfront view, where students can see the ocean and fishing boats directly from campus, with beach shower facilities nearby. With about 112 students, 25 staff and employees, and 7 classes, the school has been featured on public television's children's programming, "台灣囡仔讚" (Taiwan's Wonderful Kids), as a showcase island school.

Taiwan's only coral-reef island township.
Xiaoliuqiu (琉球鄉) is Taiwan's only coral-reef island township, reachable only by ferry from Donggang, with an economy built on tourism, snorkeling, and traditional fishing. Called "Xiaoliuqiu's only seaview school," Baisha Elementary faces the ocean and fishing boats directly from campus — a vivid emblem of the island's coral-reef and fishing culture.
